Often, the best way to dry a carpet is with a wet carpet drying fan. Basically, you can float the carpet using the air extracted out of the spout of the fan (see image below)

Also, you can see in this image, you can use the same air mover to essentially dry the surrounding walls. Ensure that you remove the carpet underlay and hand that up to be dried somewhere else.

Wet Carpet usually takes at least 2-3 days to dry. Professionals will generally use a dehumidifier (the unit to the right of the room in the picture above). This will remove any floating moisture which will be taken out by the air movers. the hiring of a dehumidifier is essential for large areas of damage of wet carpet in commercial and domestic properties.
